Did I ever mention the time that I found out my lecturer was the ghost in one of my classmate’s home town?
Righto. So a couple years ago I took a Myths and Legends class for uni. The lecturer was this really incredible guy. Loved history. Dressed, everyday, to the nines. Top hat, waistcoat, leather shoes etc. In one of the introductory classes he had us share stories we had heard, local myths and legends from the towns we grew up in. I was studying in Ballarat, an Australian town with a rich ghost history and so it made sense that a lot of people had answers. This one girl, however, grew up in a small rural town a couple hours away and talked about the ghost she knew of from when she was in high school. Every night, at the same time of night (about 3am), people recounted seeing a Victorian man walk across the golf field. This one was particularly interesting because she had seen herself. That is, where other people had just heard these stories, she knew that what had been talked about was real.
This was when he turned red. It had turned out that when he was studying for his undergrad he was living in this particular town. Not many people knew him because he didn’t grow up there. He would spend countless nights up late working and so to wind would go on long late night walks. At 3am, every night. In the full garb he wore everyday.
It had turned out that him being the stand out that he was, had birthed a legend. He had known about it but never did he think it would catch up with him.
I never could explain my issue with the Judeo-Chrustian God but this explains it. he is an abuser, all-powerful, all-knowing, punishes you if you upset him, ignores you if you please him. Was pissed the angels worshipped him unconditionally as they had no free will to do so, creates humans with free-will so they can Choose to worship him cus, come on I’m awesome, gets pissy when they choise not to worship him.
And Christians often interpret people struggling after leaving the faith as proof that the lack of faith is the problem rather than the brainwashing that really caused the problem.

not only do jewish people have a radically different dynamic with their god, but the term is inaccurate and frankly offensive to many

when I was 4 or 5, my mom was a prof at a college and she used to hand me the scantron sheet before she wrote the exam and let me colour whatever lettered bubble i wanted for each answer. if i coloured two by accident, she made an ‘all of the above’ option. one time she gave me it and i coloured the ‘a’ bubble for each of the 130 questions except for the second last one and she just went with it
later on, she told me that it was the most entertaining exam she had ever watched her students take
For those who don’t know and don’t want to click thru to find out: Jonas Salk is the reason we in North America no longer live in terror of polio. He also refused to patent or profit from his vaccine. He also spent the last years of his life researching a vaccine for AIDS, long before that was cool and back when a lot of people were secretly hoping it really would just kill all the gays. Once you get out of St. Louis county start being careful.
St. Genevieve, MO is definitely a no go for me if I’m traveling south.
If traveling in Louisiana stay away from small town with low speeding zones. If you are to go into those please drive the speed limit and don’t stop for gas. You will get a ticket for tint of your car. If your military I pay you drive the speed limit and don’t have a military tag. Get gas in the daylight.

D&D adventure concept: it turns out that the Fairy Queen doesn’t actually do anything with the sparkles-in-your-eyes and memories-of-a-summer’s-day and other sundry intangibles and abstractions she’s been scamming mortals out of for the last few centuries.
Whatever she had planned for them didn’t pan out, but she never ordered her minions to stop collecting them; by the time it became clear that the project was a no-go, expectations had already been set, and when you’re the Queen of the Fairies you can’t very well admit to having a bad idea.
She’s just been discretely dumping them down a disused well for hundreds of years, and the resulting effluvium of spoiled virtue and rotten whimsy has begun to contaminate the drinking water of a human village downstream – which is where the player characters come in.
It probably doesn’t help that half the Fae economy is now built around buying the stuff- every goblin market accepts your happiest childhood moment as legal tender for their dubious merchandise, and since the queen’s made it fashionable, there are fairy nobles who specialize in certain ephemera.
(Everyone’s a little worried about the Baron of Autumn, who specializes in bespoke Orphan’s Tears.)
But no one’s gonna admit that they don’t know what all this collecting is for, they just know that it’s valuable to the Queen.
Oh, god, imagine if the faerie realm catches on that the Queen no longer has any use for such things? Imagine the faerie realm undergoing an economic collapse!
I’m not gonna say “player characters start out investigating tainted well, end up being responsible for Fairy Realm’s equivalent of collapse of the gold standard” is specifically where I was going with this, but it’s definitely amongst the several possible outcomes I had in mind.
