KAMELOT – Mindfall Remedy ft. Lauren Hart (Official Video)
“In this material world, full of vanity and beautifying filters, it is easy to turn to those things when looking for validation and comfort. We have come to expect external gratification to lift us up, solve our insecurities and give us a meaningful existence. With this song we want to encourage people to look inside themselves for answers. Only then can we fully learn to respect and love ourselves and grow as people. There is a way to unlock your inhibitions, and only you possess the key…” – Tommy Karevik, Kamelot
Wednesday, August 1: Delain, “Mother Machine”
“Mother Machine” opened We
Are the Others with a guitar and drum barrage that was far more intense
than most symphonic metal, but soon returned to more familiar territory with
its mid-paced verses and Charlotte
Wessels’ elastic and melodic vocals. Of
course, there was plenty of space for Wessels to command the spotlight, though
Martin Westerholt’s keyboards were far less obtrusive than was usually the case
for this sort of sound. What made
“Mother Machine” stand out was its committed riffing and drumming, for even if
the guitars weren’t as prominent in the mix after those opening moments, their
power was apparent throughout most of the song, and with Wessels on board, the
tune offered a nice counterpart to Westerholt’s former band Within
Temptation. It was well-executed and perfectly
crafted, presenting the more metallic aspects of Delain’s sound to delightful
effect.
